Easter Outfit...So I thought!

This year I was so excited for Easter because I decided that I wanted to make a skirt for myself for Easter. So I found the pattern I liked. I then found the fabric I LOVED. So, about a week and a half ago I started this skirt. I finished it all but the hem last week. Then, if you read my previous posts, you will remember I had a week of sick kids. Well, Saturday morning, I woke up with the flu. UGH. I stayed banished to my room all day Saturday, into Sunday (Easter) morning. Needless to say, I made it to church....but my skirt stayed home. I was really bummed.

Well, tonight I finished the hem and I thought I would show you how this cute skirt turned out.
Here is the front of the skirt. I love pencil skirts, so when I saw this pattern I was drawn right to it.  I absolutely love the pink and black Paris themed fabric!
I really like the look of the wide yoke and the cute little pockets.
Here is the back of the skirt. Instead of one slit, there are two slits in the bottom of the skirt.
Here is a closer look at the two slits in the bottom.
I thought of wearing a pink cardigan with this skirt.
I also thought that this gathered ribbon flower that I made looked cute with the skirt too.

Well, this outfit didn't make Easter...maybe Mother's Day. :)

Peeps Easter Wreath

This past weekend was the Crafty Girls Workshop, and we really had a great time. One Crafty Girl that comes every month to the workshop is Carole a.k.a. my Mom! Mom is definitely one of my biggest supporters!

At the workshop Carole made the cutest Peeps wreath...and I am the lucky recipient of that wreath! Thanks MOM!
Look how stinking cute!
Carole took a 12 inch wreath and wrapped the wreath with a light yellow satin ribbon.
She then hot glued the Peeps to the wreath. She sprayed it with a clear coat, and that is it!

Ironically, after posting this post, I went on Facebook only to find out that my sister in law, Alison, made the same wreath! How funny! Alison used the multi-colored Peeps for her wreath and I love it too!

Happy Easter!

Springtime!

Truth be told, fall is my favorite season! I love the colors, crispness and overall feeling of autumn. A close second is springtime. Living is Vegas, spring usually only lasts about a week or two, if we are lucky. It gets very hot, very quickly! This past week has been simply beautiful - hovering in the high 70's. So, I thought I would do the next monthly block set devoted more to spring, rather than Easter (I do have another set for Easter, but I wanted one for spring too !).

For this spring block set, I used mostly the paper line from October Afternoon, Modern Homemaker with a few sheets from Cosmo Cricket. I LOVE THE COLORS!

Have a great week!

Easter Egg Time!

After making Peter Cottontail and his friends the other day...
I thought I could do the same thing, but with Easter eggs.
So, back to my assistant (dad) with pattern, and I soon had three Easter eggs nicely painted white. The eggs were cut out of 3/4 inch MDF. I picked out the papers and embellishments that I wanted to use.
On the largest egg, I used strips of all of the papers, scalloped the edges with a different scallop punch for each. The tallest egg is about 8 inches tall.
I punched a cute scallop flower and added a button and it looks great! This medium egg is about 6 1/2 inches tall.
The baby egg looks cute with a sweet little bird on it. The small egg is about 5 1/2 inches tall.
And, like the bunny's, this little trio of Easter eggs will be a nice addition to our Easter decorations.

Happy Thursday to all!

Here Comes Peter Cottontail!

It's that time! Time to start thinking about Easter decorating! Here is a decoration that I made that I would like to share with you....

These cute little bunnies!
The tall bunny is 9 1/2 inches tall
The medium bunny is 7 inches tall
And the small bunny is 6 inches tall
I made these cuties with 3/4 inch MDF board. I gave my assistant, aka, dad, the pattern of the bunnies and he cut them out. After cutting the shapes out, he painted the MDF with a chocolate brown paint.
I picked out the paper and embellishments that I wanted to use for the bunnies. Then, I traced and cut out the paper and used Mod Podge to put the paper on the bunnies. I then glued the bunny legs onto the bunny. Added the embellishments and that was it!
They really do look cute for an Easter decoration.

In George Michael's Words...

Ya Gotta Have Faith...

I know Easter if still 2 months away, but Easter is the only holiday where I don't have a lot of decorations for. I have been thinking a lot about that and I keep coming back to the Easter Bunny and Easter eggs. Well, let's face it, neither of those things have anything to do with the true meaning of Easter. And, while some cutesy Easter stuff is ok, I want to display something with a bit more meaning.

Easter is a time for FAITH. It does not matter what religious background you come from, or what you believe. You believe the way you do because you have FAITH that that is the truth.

So, tonight I came up with this...
a FAITH wall hanging.
I started out with MDF board, cut to size.
I painted the edges and in about an inch around all the edges.
I cut the paper that I wanted to use to size. I used two different papers, a solid card stock and a patterned paper. I used Mod Podge to put the paper on the MDF.
Cut out my letters and embellished the blocks.
I drilled a hole in the top and bottom of each block and used twine to connect the blocks.  This can be tricky getting each side even! Be patient with this step!
I now have FAITH in my house. :)
