Perpetual Birthday Calendar

Finally! Five minutes to sit, relax and show you a fun perpetual calendar that I made for my family. Both my husband and I are from large families, and every year I make a goal (that I have broken every year!) to remember all the birthdays. So, to try to help with that, I came up with this perpetual calendar for my kitchen.
The best part about this calendar is that I will see it everyday so I will have no excuses for not remembering a family member's birthday!

I love the line of paper from Stampin' Up that I used...it is called Patio Party

Gotta have tulle in the project somewhere!

I started this project out with a 12x12 wood frame that I painted white. I then made a scrapbook page for the background of the calendar. Super easy! Yes, that is a dinner doily!

I then took a standard clip-board and cut the length down so it would measure 9x9 inches. I decorated the clip-board with coordinating papers and ribbon.

I printed out each month and mounted the months onto colored card stock. I cut these to measure 8x8 inches.

Then, I went through each month and added the birthdays and anniversary's

I made a couple of banners and added them to the frame. Once all that was done, I put the background paper in the frame, hot glued the clipboard to that paper and added the banners and I was done!

And that's it... super easy and fun! It definitely adds a bit of color to a dark corner in my kitchen!

Happy Sunday!

Time for some cards...

What do you get when your husband and kids are all gone for the night camping? A very quiet house and lots of time to create! YEA! I did a lot of crafting tonight and I wanted to share one of the things that I did. I made a BUNCH of much needed cards!
I belong to a monthly scrap kit club called My Scrapbook Nook and most everything I used tonight is from the May kit.
I LOVE the mini canvas butterflies from Maya Road!
As you can tell I did kinda a production line of card making. I figure, why deviate from something that is so cute!
I ran out of the stinking cute canvas butterflies, so I used a Martha Stewart butterfly punch instead.
Super easy cards!
I love to add dimension to cards.
Last, but not least, I wanted to make a card for our daughter who is away at college...ok, maybe I got a little but carried away, but I still love it! :) It's easy to get carried away when it is 5:00 a.m. and still haven't gone to bed!

My inspiration for my cards came from a dear friend, Kristy from Craftin-on-my-door who inspired me with this card that she made.....
When Kristy made this card, I loved it instantly! I love using the doily as the base of the cards! The sky is starting to get light...maybe I should go lay down for a bit, or go back to crafting! :)

Daughters in His Kingdom

Tonight I had the privilege of joining some friends and attend a 170th birthday celebration for the women's group of our church called the Relief Society. It was a very uplifting and motivating evening. There was a lot of preparation that went into putting this celebration on. Some of that prep work was done by my friend Stephanie - She is amazing when it comes to decorating. Anyway, last Sunday Stephanie asked if I would help her and make cake toppers for 30, 8" cakes. The cakes were the center pieces for each table. She gave me an invitation to go on.
So, as you can see, the colors were basically mocha and blue. The little flower is blue.
As all of you paper crafters know...CRAFTING IS MESSY!
Here the toppers starting to come together...
After two days of working on the toppers, I was done!
So, here is the topper sitting pretty on one of the cakes! Super fun, and really, super easy!

I have to give a big shout out for the Stampin Up's Big Shot die, Designer Rosette Big Z XL die! The die cut all of the brown base flowers! It did all the scoring for me so all I had to do was cut and fold!

Hoping you all are having a great weekend!

Give Thanks Banner!

I know that the fall season has just started, but...oh how I wish that the fall season would last longer! I love to decorate our home with the fall colors. So, this last week I made a decoration for our home....
I love the addition of a new "GIVE THANKS" Banner!

I decided that I wanted to make the banner using a hard backing on it so that it would store away easy and not ruin. Sometimes paper crafts get ruined while being stored.
So, I asked my dad to cut out each pennant of the banner with 1/4 inch backing board. (Not too sure if that is what it is called, but it is super smooth and super strong and works great!)
I started to collect the embellishments that I thought I wanted to use. I was not too sure where I was going with the idea, but I knew I wanted both paper and felt on the banner.
Here is what it is looking like with the paper layered up on it. I love the doily for the center!
I used gold glitter paper for the letters. Trust me, the glitter is there!
The banner would have been way too long if I used the word GIVE as well, so the word GIVE is on a small pennant on the "T" pennant.
I love the bird punch from Stampin Up!
And, here is the felt...I love this flower! I also used felt under each letter between the doily and the blue fan fold paper flower.
I connected all the pennants together with brown w/ glitter tulle. I love this banner! I am truly grateful for this season.

Halloween Welcome!

Let the fall decorating begin!!! My favorite season is definitely fall. And, living in Vegas, the only way that fall enters the area is by the decorating that goes on inside our homes. Heaven knows it looks like summer here all year round!

So, I wanted to share with you a super cute welcome sign that I made to welcome the new season!
I wish you all could see this in person, because it is super cute! The black boots are done is a swirl glittered patter that you can't quite see in the picture. The plaque and the legs are made out of wood, and the legs dangle so cute! There are two layers of tulle to create the skirt effect.

I got the idea from Lemon Tree Creations and here is their version:
I think that they are both stinking cute!

So, WELCOME Fall and WELCOME Halloween!

America!

Oh my goodness! I can't believe how little of time I have on the computer in the summer! I am truly loving swimming and playing with the kids!

I was not planning on sharing this AMERICA banner that I threw together a couple of days ago only because I was making this banner with absolutely no plan or idea on what I wanted! I just started adding to the banner and this is what it turned into:

I think it turned out pretty dang cute! Because I had no intention of sharing the banner with you, I didn't not write down where I downloaded the AMERICA letters from - Sorry!  It is amazing what a few buttons, flowers and pieces of ribbon will turn into!
I had a bunch of vintage 4th of July postcards that I had intended on using elsewhere, but ended up on the banner.

I just love patriotic anything! Oh, and special thanks to my best friend, Sharon, for the stinking cute AMERICA printable that she did! Sharon is stinking amazing on the computer! Check her out on her blog Worleybird Designs.

Ok time to go and play with Sam.....

HAPPY 4th of JULY to all!!!
Be Safe!

Fun Scrapbook Layouts!

This is so sad for me to admit...I am soooooo far behind on my scrapping! I know I am not alone, but for so long I was caught up. And, let's just say, the last year, was a tough one with my time. So, the scrapping got pushed to the back burner. Well, I made up a couple layouts the other day that I would love to share with you. They were both pretty simple and fun!
The first one is a single page layout. I love the colors and the little felt flower on this page.
The second layout is a double page layout. I found the paper with the clouds and the umbrellas, then I found the die cuts of the cloud and umbrella on a Cricut cartridge. Matched perfectly! We don't get a lot of rain in Vegas, so really, this layout should read, "April Sprinklers Bring May Flowers"! LOL!

My new goal....To scrap on Sunday afternoons for two hours. *Thanks to my sister-in-law, Alison who, years ago, told me this was her trick to stay caught up. Hmmmm, Alison, do you still do this?

Happy Friday!
