Give Thanks Banner!

I know that the fall season has just started, but...oh how I wish that the fall season would last longer! I love to decorate our home with the fall colors. So, this last week I made a decoration for our home....
I love the addition of a new "GIVE THANKS" Banner!

I decided that I wanted to make the banner using a hard backing on it so that it would store away easy and not ruin. Sometimes paper crafts get ruined while being stored.
So, I asked my dad to cut out each pennant of the banner with 1/4 inch backing board. (Not too sure if that is what it is called, but it is super smooth and super strong and works great!)
I started to collect the embellishments that I thought I wanted to use. I was not too sure where I was going with the idea, but I knew I wanted both paper and felt on the banner.
Here is what it is looking like with the paper layered up on it. I love the doily for the center!
I used gold glitter paper for the letters. Trust me, the glitter is there!
The banner would have been way too long if I used the word GIVE as well, so the word GIVE is on a small pennant on the "T" pennant.
I love the bird punch from Stampin Up!
And, here is the felt...I love this flower! I also used felt under each letter between the doily and the blue fan fold paper flower.
I connected all the pennants together with brown w/ glitter tulle. I love this banner! I am truly grateful for this season.

Scraps to Owls

Today was such a nice Thanksgiving. The weather in Vegas was cold, which helped with the "fall" feeling. We went to dinner at my parents home and we ate WAY too much! I always like to bring little hostess gifts to my mom because even when I make something not so great, she makes me believe it is! So, this morning I was cleaning up my sewing room and was trying to think of what to make my mom. I have a basket of scraps...so this is what I came up with...
Super cute scrap owls!

We were playing around with them and hung them in my moms chandelier.

Well good night all. Tomorrow let the Christmas shopping and decorating begin~

Scrap Wood Pilgrims

Tonight I threw together a quick Thanksgiving decor. I had some scrap 2x4's and paper, so I deco podged paper onto the wood, and there you have it....

Not too bad for being VERY TIRED tonight!
Happy Fall!

Fall Chandelier~

There are a few things about my home that I dislike. On that list is the fact my dining area off my kitchen does not have a chandelier over the table. There are two pot lights there, and I hope one day to have an electrician come out and put a chandelier up for me...but for now, this chandelier will work.

I had an idea a couple days ago to take a Christmas pine wreath, add battery operated lights and some bulb ornaments. Then, lay the wreath flat, add some ribbon and hang it from my ceiling to act as a holiday chandelier. Then, today, it hit me...why not do a fall wreath chandelier? So, that is exactly what I did. I LOVE how it turned out!

Trust me, these pictures do not do this chandelier justice! You cannot see the little white lights that are wrapped into the wreath. Oh, how I wish you all could come over and see it!
Happy Fall Decorating!

By the way, I am linking this great chandelier to these blogs...

The (Not) Forgotten Holiday....Thanksgiving

I feel so bad for Thanksgiving. The holiday is so neglected. There is so much ado about Halloween with candy, goblins and costumes. And, Christmas, of course starts getting attention in August in some stores! Truth be told, Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday of the three. I am so thankful for so many things, that I can't even tell you. The colors of the season (OK, not here in Vegas, but everywhere else!) are so beautiful. So, today, I decided it was time to take a break from the Halloween and Christmas kits and make something for Thanksgiving. This is what I came up with....
Sorry about the glare on the pictures...I am not so good with picture taking. The turkey is made from 3 pieces of 1 inch wood and he stands about 10 inches tall and 15 inches wide. I hate the fact that pictures do not do all of our craft projects justice, because this is stinking cute! I think that this is going to make a colorful addition to the Thanksgiving decor!
Good Night.
