Perpetual Birthday Calendar

Finally! Five minutes to sit, relax and show you a fun perpetual calendar that I made for my family. Both my husband and I are from large families, and every year I make a goal (that I have broken every year!) to remember all the birthdays. So, to try to help with that, I came up with this perpetual calendar for my kitchen.
The best part about this calendar is that I will see it everyday so I will have no excuses for not remembering a family member's birthday!

I love the line of paper from Stampin' Up that I used...it is called Patio Party

Gotta have tulle in the project somewhere!

I started this project out with a 12x12 wood frame that I painted white. I then made a scrapbook page for the background of the calendar. Super easy! Yes, that is a dinner doily!

I then took a standard clip-board and cut the length down so it would measure 9x9 inches. I decorated the clip-board with coordinating papers and ribbon.

I printed out each month and mounted the months onto colored card stock. I cut these to measure 8x8 inches.

Then, I went through each month and added the birthdays and anniversary's

I made a couple of banners and added them to the frame. Once all that was done, I put the background paper in the frame, hot glued the clipboard to that paper and added the banners and I was done!

And that's it... super easy and fun! It definitely adds a bit of color to a dark corner in my kitchen!

Happy Sunday!

Altered Frame

Hello everyone! I thought that I would share with you a fun frame I made today. I got my inspiration from the cover of Scrapbook, Etc.
I love these frames with the banners going across them that are sooooo popular right now! I did change up some things though to make it more my own....
I decided to use a black frame, only because it matches my house better
I added three fabric rolled flowers in the corner of the frame
I decided to use twine and mini clothes pins instead of the wire
And, last but not least...I left the glass insert in the frame and added a coordinating paper in the frame
I think it is fun to see something that you like and use it as an inspiration to make something that you love!

UUGGGHHHH Purse!

Those who know me best know that I do enjoy to make bags. I have made hundreds of bags in my life. I am always up to try a new bag. So....when I got an email from Tall Poppy Crafts where they were advertising their Clamshell purse:
Clamshell purse
I thought when I first saw this that I loved it. So, I ordered two kits. Kits came, read directions and tried to make it....
First it said to spread your glue on the outsides of the purse. Easy enough.
Then, add the fabric and add a top coat of the fabric. Easy enough.
Now line the inside of the purse with another fabric. I am now hating working with all this glue. It is actually driving me crazy!
You are now suppose to wait for the glue to dry. But, I am tired and cranky tonight and I don't want to wait...so I added the two sides to the frames. It actually went right into the frame really easy. Yes, I know the picture if cruddy because the glue is still wet, but hey, I am impatient!
Here is is put together. It is actually pretty cute, but I did not enjoy making it that is for sure!
The bag is actually a "cute" size. It is 7 inches by 3.5 inches.
For being a cute size, it actually holds the essentials that are needed for a fun afternoon out with the gals.
If you look close at the top of the bag, you can see two metal hooks that you can add a chain to the bag to make it a shoulder bag, which is kinda cool.

After making this bag, I will never make it again, way too messy for me. I prefer my sewing machine over Mod Podge! Although, I do have one more frame...maybe time will make me think different!

Happy Monday!

New Mail Organizer

Stay with me for a minute....you know that song by Eddie Money, Think I'm in Love? Sing it with me...

I think I'm in love
And my life's lookin' up
I think I'm in love
'Cause I can't get enough
I think I'm in love
It's gotta be love

All you 40 somethings, you know the song! Well, I can't stop singing this song because of this....
Are you in love now too! Dang this mail organizer is stinking cute!
I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the HEATHER BAILEY fabric more than I can tell you.
We get sooooo much mail, and it ends up all over the house. So when I saw the tutorial for this mail organizer at Noodle-Head I knew immediately that I wanted to make this.
This is the top pocket.
And this is the bottom pocket. I did mine just a bit different in that I used a wider ribbon, and added the bow. I also used one large frame for the title.

Here is the original one that I fell in love with at Noodle Head.
How could I not fall in love with this? Anna also used Heather Bailey fabric as well for her mail organizer. And, the tutorial is spot on! Super easy to read and understand. Hats off to Anna!

Oh ya, one last thing....

Today was my Assistant's (aka Dad's) birthday. I just want to say
HAPPY BIRTHDAY DAD!
I am super lucky to have such a great father.

I hope you had a great birthday...now, get back to work! :)

Family Window

Last week I was online looking around at some blogs, when I came across this window at lil' luna. I loved the window! I knew instantly that I wanted to make this.
Isn't it splendid!
Here is my vintage window. I got this window last summer on a trip up to Utah with some girlfriends. I have been trying to figure out what to do with it ever since I got it.
I used brown vinyl. I ran out of vinyl while cutting up the words for my window, and being the impatient person that I am, I decided to actually add a family picture to the window. I really like the picture on the window.
I put all the kids' nicknames instead of their real names. Each of their nicknames make me laugh, so I thought it would be appropriate for the window. Thank you Kristyn ! I relied a lot on Kristyn's window for the idea's in mine, so hopefully she doesn't mind me lifting her ideas!

Now, I need to decide where I am going to hang the window!
Happy Sunday!
