What can you do with 2 cans of spray paint????

Last week I was in my sewing room and as I looked around, I felt that it needed a little bit of color. I usually stay in the safe zone when it comes to decorating - but I just had this urge to jump out of the safe zone. I have an idea in my head...slowly it is coming out. So, I thought I would show you one wall that is done in the sewing room. But first, let me show you the before picture:

Don't get me wrong, I loved it before, just a little bit bland.

And...here is the after: 

I love this wall now! I painted the chair, magnet board, wire rack, clipboard and all the frames a bright cherry red!  

My mail holder looks great with the red. I put some of my favorite prints in the red frames. 

My mom let me commandeer the mirror from her garage, and with a coat of paint - looks awesome! 

I like the magnet board much better flipped up on its side.  

My favorite part of the wall has to be my print of Wonder Woman! My sister, Liz, gave me this print a couple of years ago, and I am kinda using it as my new color scheme for the sewing room!  

Aren't we all just like Wonder Woman???

As I work on the other three sides of the office, I will take more pictures!

Must be time to make dinner, kids are getting cranky!

Crafty Girls Cabin Getaway!

OH MY GOODNESS! Ever since I quit working a month and a half ago, I feel like I am so much busier than when I worked! I feel like I was more relaxed by going to work! So crazy! But, I have loved every minute of being home with my kids!

I wanted to fill you all in on what is going on at Crafty Girls Workshop! I am so excited to let you all know that I have teamed up with one of my best friends, Barbara, and we are hosting a weekend getaway at a cabin in Zion National Park in Utah!!!!! The getaway is September 30th through October 2nd, perfect timing for the changing colors of fall!

Barbara and I have been working on some really fun things for this getaway! We have designed it to be almost like a "boutique" retreat! With only 18 Crafty Girls attending, we can really pamper to them!

This is going to be a weekend of laughter, crafting and fun! We have one room left if anyone is interested! :) The room has two queen beds in it, so there is room for four crafters! Just leave me a comment or email me if you are interested!

On a side note...the kids go back to school in two and a half weeks...I am so hopeful that I will be able to blog more and show you so many fun things that I am working on!

Gotta Sew! No time to blog!

I have been putting my sewing machine to the test! I don't have time to blog, but wanted to show you this bag I just finished! Truly summertime!

I used a fun turquoise canvas for the base of the bag and my absolute favorite fabric designer, Heather Bailey for the rest of the bag. 

I lined the inside with Heather Bailey as well.  

The bag measures 14 inches by 14 inches and 3 inches deep 

My new favorite is adding the feet to the bottom of my bigger bags!

Gotta run...another bag to make!

New Bunting Scrapbook Bag!

Our a/c went out Saturday...still not fixed. But, the good part is, it really isn't all that bad in the house, even when it is 105 outside! We have two a/c units and the upstairs unit is still working, so we are at least sleeping well! The reason I am telling you this is because there is an image of a bag in my head and I had to make this bag today...but in order to do so, I would need the hot iron on, which adds about 20 degrees to my sewing room! With heat and all, I forged ahead to make the bag! This is what was dancing around in my head:

My inspiration came a few weeks back, my friend Kristy from Craftin-on-my-Door sent me an email with a link to the blog Just Another Hang Up. This blog is one of my favorites! Suzanne from Just Another Hang Up is so talented! Here is the inspiration for my bag:

Suzanne also gives a tutorial on how to make this cute little Cosmetic Bunting Bag HERE. I knew that I would never want to hide such a beauty in my purse, so I made a large bag!  

The dimensions of my bag are 14 inches by 14 inches and 3 inches deep. This is the size bag that I make to hold the page packets for scrapbooking.

This is the back of the bag, I wrapped the bunting all of the way around! 

I used fun Amy Butler fabric for the lining and I added three pockets on the inside. I also added a magnetic closure, just in case the bag isn't stuffed full! 

Because I used a light colored canvas for the body of the bag, I added little feet to the bottom - just to help keep the bottom cleaner. 

You can tell by where the bag sits on Ms. M. that it is pretty big!

Christmas in July!

Yes, it's true! Here at Crafty Girls it is Christmas in July! Crafty Girl's Workshop is Saturday and we are celebrating Christmas! So....needless to say, the next few posts will be Christmas themed. First up is a cute little JOY block set:

Isn't this sweet! I am addicted to block sets, and I just love how this turned out! 

I like how the three tiny white buttons kind of looks like buttons on Santa's outfit! 

For the O, I used a snowflake that is three dimensional. You can't tell from the picture, but the white snowflake is glitter paper.  

I did the same on the Y for the buttons. 

I added the ribbon around the blocks to add a "present look". 

I really like the ribbon running all of the way around the blocks.

August & September Fence Post Signs

Well, it is already time for the next Crafty Girls Workshop and I am super excited. One of the kits offered is the Fence Post Sign kit. Each month we make the sign for the next month. This month is a bit different because I am taking August off from hosting the workshop, so we need to get two in this month! So, let me show you August first:

I think that my dad did a great job at cutting this tricky sun out!

The sun will definitely fit in well here in Vegas!

Now, let me show you the sign for September. I have to say, I think this is my favorite so far!

I had a hard time trying to think of something for September. I finally came up with the owl because, to me, an owl represents knowledge and September is back to school month! Plus, in most parts of the country, in September the feel of fall starts. NOT HERE! So, I decided to force fall!

New Church Bag~

Wowza....I almost forgot how to blog! Holy Moly, I can't believe how busy life is in the summer! I love it though, I wouldn't trade it. And guess what? I am now officially a STAY AT HOME MOM!!!!! I am so happy! So, I am sure that Monday morning I am going to wake up and the house will stay clean, the kids will be playing nicely and the Bon-Bons will be waiting for me! :)

After an awesome week in Utah, I finally sat back down at the sewing machine tonight and made a new church bag for a friend at church. She asked for the bag over a month ago! SORRY! I am sure that she understands because I think her life is busier than mine! My friend just recently was released as the Primary President and was moved to the Young Women's presidency. So, new calling, new bag.

This is the cute bag that I made tonight. I used all Amy Butler fabric, one of my favorites!  

Usually I make my bags 3 inches wide, but I added an inch to make it 4 inches wide just so my friend can add an extra binder or whatever. 

I made pockets on the inside with the green fabric. There are 4 large pockets and 4 pen pocket slots. My friend also asked for a divider in the bag. I decided not sew the bottom of the divider to the bottom of the bag, that way, if my friend wanted to put something really wide in the bag, the divider would move over to the side easily.  

The bag actually fits quite a bit. I hope it is enough room! 

It was a last second thought to add the flower to the front of the bag. It adds that little bit of fun to the bag. I am glad I added the flower. 

I will bring this to church with me in the morning to give to my friend...I hope she likes it!
