Re-do!

I really think that the nativity scene that I made is super adorable. But, I felt like something was missing from the set.

I kept looking at the nativity, and then, it hit my like a brick! The STAR! I was missing the start. Of course, the nativity needed the star. So, I thought about how and where I would put the star. This is what I came up with...

How cute is that! I added some wire, with the star at the end of it and added it to the cradle of baby Jesus. I think that it is the final touch of an already cute nativity scene.

A few new crafts....

I am always trying new crafts, and with the holiday season coming upon us so fast, I thought I would start now with the holiday crafting! I first made these adorable Santa hats! I just love the trio of these whimsical hats.

The mink rim (fake mink of course) around the bottom and at the top of each hat is super silky and soft.

I have three very active little boys and I love nativity scenes. Well, boys and nativity scenes don't seem to mix well. They are very active boys, and every chance they get, they are playing football in the house! So, I will just say, a few things here and there have been broken due to the game winning throw! So, I made up this great wood nativity and I love it! The boys can't break these pieces!

Halloween Ideas~

Well another Crafty Girls crop is complete. We had such a great crop on Saturday and accomplished so much! But here is the bummer about the crop...and totally my fault....I DID NOT TAKE ANY PICTURES OF THE CROP! UGH! I am just sick that I totally forgot to pull my camera out! How stupid is that???? Sorry girls! I wish I had a ton of pictures to post of the crop like before, but I don't.

Well, it is time to brave the world this lovely Monday morning! I wish everyone a positive week! 

Yo-Yo's

Every year at Christmas time my mother-in-law always will ask me what I want. And, every year I tell her the same thing. "A gift certificate to Ben Franklin". You see, the Ben Franklin in Kaysville, Utah is great! I love that store, and I must admit that sometimes I want to go to visit her just so I can go to Ben Franklin. Well, last year at Christmas my mother-in-law went above the "oh so expected" gift certificate and included with the certificate several different size Yo-Yo makers!

I have seen many cute projects and crafts done with yo-yo's. But, I have never made them myself.

Well, this week I decided to use my new yo-yo makers. I must say, I was really surprised how easy they were to make!

A little background here....my two bff's last year for my birthday got me a mannequin. I LOVE her. I call her Ms. M. I like to dress Ms. M in accordance to the holiday or time of year. Summer is over. Halloween is here. So, I decided to make Ms. M an outfit to suit the holiday.

Ms. M is now adorned in a beautiful tulle skirt with a wide belt that is embellished with yo-yo's! Lets not forget the elegant choker necklace that matches!

So, in the end...thank you Barb & Sharon for Ms. M ~ and thank you mother-in-law for the great yo-yo makers! And, Ms. M - you look great!

Halloween Decor....

I love fall. I love the changing into a new season. I love the beautiful trees, changing from green to vibrant reds, yellows and greens. I love the crisp coolness of the air. I love putting on my favorite sweater. OH WAIT! I live in Vegas! I don't get to experience all the things I love most about fall! The season doesn't change, the days just get shorter. Palm trees don't change colors. The coolness in the air is usually because the wind is blowing and the misters are on. Sweater? I haven't owned a new sweater in years.

So, because I have to miss out so much about fall that I love, I guess I can decorate inside my home to make me feel like it is fall. So, that is just what I did today. I didn't do too much, but I did a little bit.

This is a very old mirror above the "fireplace". If you look close you can see the spiders and webs that I added to it.

Just by changing out a picture and adding a couple of baby pumpkins makes me feel like fall.

This is probably my favorite decoration this year. I have seen this done all over blog-land and really wanted to do it this year. Just fill containers with baby pumpkins with acorns, some gourds and a new pet raven. Love it.

I think Mr. Raven is cute...the boys want to name him so we are contemplating several names. I will let you know when a name has been decided.

And of course, everyone needs a darling little countdown calendar!

A New Bag....

Ok, I love this bag. I think it turned out so stinking cute. A gal ordered this bag and requested black, red and white. I hope she likes it!

Breast Cancer Awareness

I would like for all of you to meet Sharon...

Sharon is one of my dearest friends ever! I met Sharon about 6 years ago while working at Julie Jane Scrapbook store. One of the things I love most about Sharon is her zest for life. Sharon has this little Georgia peach southern accent and has a saying for everything! Sharon is a mother of two great boys and married to a great man.

At the young age of 35 years old Sharon was diagnosed with stage 3+ breast cancer. At the time of diagnoses, Sharon had two young toddlers and was at a time in her life when she was suppose to nurture and care for her babies. Instead, she was faced with having to accept help and nurturing from others. She was thrown into a world that I hope and pray I, nor any of you have to enter. Sharon beat the odds that was given to her and today, proud to say, almost 15 years cancer free.

I am telling you about Sharon because October is breast cancer awareness month. Because of Sharon, I have a mammogram every year. I am begging all of you to touch your ta-ta's, have your husband touch them, have your doctor touch them...and honor all the women who have lost their battle to breast cancer and to teach all women the importance of early detection. Sharon is a shining example of a positive and winning attitude. We need more Sharon's in this fight against breast cancer.
