New Mail Organizer

Stay with me for a minute....you know that song by Eddie Money, Think I'm in Love? Sing it with me...

I think I'm in love
And my life's lookin' up
I think I'm in love
'Cause I can't get enough
I think I'm in love
It's gotta be love

All you 40 somethings, you know the song! Well, I can't stop singing this song because of this....
Are you in love now too! Dang this mail organizer is stinking cute!
I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the HEATHER BAILEY fabric more than I can tell you.
We get sooooo much mail, and it ends up all over the house. So when I saw the tutorial for this mail organizer at Noodle-Head I knew immediately that I wanted to make this.
This is the top pocket.
And this is the bottom pocket. I did mine just a bit different in that I used a wider ribbon, and added the bow. I also used one large frame for the title.

Here is the original one that I fell in love with at Noodle Head.
How could I not fall in love with this? Anna also used Heather Bailey fabric as well for her mail organizer. And, the tutorial is spot on! Super easy to read and understand. Hats off to Anna!

Oh ya, one last thing....

Today was my Assistant's (aka Dad's) birthday. I just want to say
HAPPY BIRTHDAY DAD!
I am super lucky to have such a great father.

I hope you had a great birthday...now, get back to work! :)

Teacher Appreciation Ideas

I have three in elementary school, ages 8, 9 and 10. So, to do a nice teacher appreciation gift for each can get costly. I have not decided what I am going to do for gifts, but I have found some great ideas! I thought I would share some with you in case you are like me and wait until the last minute to send a gift to school! :)

Bloom Pencil Bouquet from Amy at Ameroonie Designs
Super cute & super cost effective! Love it! The nice thing about this gift is that I am sure that teachers go through 708 pencils a day! Good job Amy!

Up next is Jen from Craftomaniac who shows up these great Embellished Teacher Treat Jars!
I would love a treat jar! Super cute Jen!

OK, shut the front door! Look how stinking cute these cookies are! Sweet Sugarbelle shows off some amazing talent! This might be too much for me to handle!
Just amazing is all I can say about these cookies!

Now, check this out! Over at  Madigan Made we can learn how to make a stinking cute magnet board out of a Dollar Store burner cover! Ingenious!
You could make this to match the "theme" of your child's classroom. Love it!

Last, but not least...Dawn from Testosterone Times Three (Hahaha, love that name!) had this great idea!
Love this! I know that everyone loves anything personalized just for them! This would work well for a male teacher too!

Well, hopefully I will post tomorrow what I came up for Ms. L, Ms. A and Mr. H.

Thanks for all the great ideas!

Pocket full of Posies!

Tonight I did some straightening up of my fabric.
Yum, right! This is just a fraction of my fabric stash, but, this is the fabric that is visible in my workshop. I only folded fabric that was big enough to make a bag, apron, dress, or whatever!

The smaller pieces went into a plastic tub...
I even love scraps of fabric because every piece of scrap fabric has a story behind it. I smile when I think of some of the gifts and projects that these fabrics have made, it makes me smile.

With Mothers Day coming up, I decided to make some posies pins with the some of the scraps of fabric.
I brought out the trusty Big Shot to cut my fabric circles and then started assembling the flowers.
I made up six flowers tonight.
I really like all of them!

I love the layered look of the flowers & the covered buttons for the centers.

I love scraps. Lord knows that if I mess up my fabric that I organized tonight, it will stay messy for a long time! (All you fabric hoarders totally understand what I am saying!) So, maybe I will stick to the scrap bucket for a while!

Happy Tuesday!

Feeling Patriotic

After the news tonight about Osama Bin Laden, I admit, I am not too sure how I feel. I will say, the first thought I had was actually one of fear. My fear was that all of the followers of Osama would want to hurt the United States for killing their "leader". I am confused with the fact that people have to kill each other to make it so others can live safe. Not right.

But, in the end, the overwhelming feeling that I had tonight is one of pride for my country. Our country is the most blessed land on this earth...and we are blessed to live here. That is a blessing that I will never take for granted.

So, off to my workshop I went after I had these feelings and sat for a while. Then, it hit me. It's May ~ Memorial Day! I needed to create something to have out in May to remind myself, as well as my family, of the sacrifices that others have made so I can enjoy my freedoms.

This is what I came up with:
An AMERICA block set. I love it!
I love the muted colors of the blocks.
Gotta have twine...

I like the brown blocks instead of using the traditional red, white or blue.
So, I just want to say Thank You to every one that is serving this great country, the United States of America.
Thank you to my family, friends and everyone that is brave enough to sacrifice for my family.
