My Friend Amy~

Sometimes in the blog world you "just click" with another blogger. That is how I feel about Amy from Ameroonie Designs. We started communicating a couple of months ago, and today we spoke on the phone for the first time! How fun she is. She also makes bags, so we have that in common. Amy has a great opportunity in front of her, and I just know that she can do it! Amy is giving away a great bag set on her blog. Here is the bag:

Super cute! If you would like a chance to win this bag, head on over to Ameroonie Designs and enter to win! She will announce the winner on Wednesday, April 20th!

Magnet Board

Do you guys remember the wood rooster and chicken I made last week? Here they are in case you don't....
I think that they are super cute. Well, tonight I took some of the extra paper I had and I made a magnet board to match. I had a sheet of 12x12 sheet metal that I used for the base of the board.
Isn't this stinking cute too!!! I love it!
I have seen these memo boards all over blog-land and for the life of me I cannot find the one that inspired me! Sometimes, I print the picture for inspiration and then I forget where I got it from! Anyone else ever do that?
The one I saw had a black telephone, but I love the red on the polka dot paper.
This board woud be great next to any phone. I am going to figure out a way to get a pen on here too.
Look how cute this looks as a set! Hmmm, this might make a great bridal shower gift. Problem is, I don't know anyone getting married!

Have a great Tuesday!

Paper Wreath

Tonight I had a very relaxing evening...believe me when I tell you that does not happen very often! We went to dinner with some friends, had some laughs and truly had a great time. When I got home, my three youngest were asleep and the house was so quiet. Instantly I knew that I would have an hour to make a wreath I saw earlier this week. So, I went right to work, and this is what I made:
I took a straw wreath and attached 3,784 loops of paper! HeeHee, not quite that many, but a lot!

There is a total of 6 rows of loops.
I saw this paper wreath tutorial over at Two Girls Being Crafty and knew I wanted to make it. Here is the wreath at Two Girls Being Crafty:

So, get your straw wreath out that is hiding in your closet, add some paper & there you go...a great spring wreath!

I am kinda hoping this will make it feel a bit more like spring here in Vegas!! Last week, 90 degrees, today 55 degrees! Crazy!

Have a great weekend!

Spring Blocks

Tonight I made up a new spring block set. I started out with leftover blocks from a previous craft that I had worked on.
Tulips are perfect for spring! The only place that I see tulips anymore is at Costco! Tulips do not grow in the desert, so Costco will do.
I had some of my favorite paper from Cosmo Cricket left.
And all these added together ended up like this:
A very springy look!
I do like how the flowers and blocks rest on the bottom board.

So, there you have it!

Fun & Fast Cards

I love to scrapbook and craft with paper, but one thing I don't do very much is make cards. My stash was starting get low, so tonight I decided to make a few cards to have on hand. Here is what I came up with:
I made up 6 cards, all using Cosmo Cricket paper
I think that the little piece of toast and toaster is sweet! On the inside I wrote "We were meant for each other"
Don't Worry, Be Happy!
I really like this card. I am very partial to red and turquoise.
Super simple, yet so sweet!
This card is tweet sweet too!
So, there you have it, super fun and super fast cards!

If you want to see some really great cards, check out my great friends, Scot & Kira at  Stampin Siblings. They definitely have the corner on cards...I just dabble.

New Rooster for the Kitchen

I am very fortunate that I have an assistant (dad) that will cut and paint wood anytime I ask him to! He has all the tools, and he is a perfectionist! So, when I hand him a pattern (or two!), I know that the product I get back will be perfect!

Anyway, I wanted to add another Rooster to my kitchen. So, I gave my dad a pattern and an idea. He cut and painted, I added the paper, and this is what I ended up with...

Super cute, huh? I love him. This rooster is about 14 inches tall. After looking at the rooster, I thought he needed a mate. So....another pattern, more cutting, more painting and more paper...here is the chicken...
I think she is cute too! The chicken is about 8 inches tall.
Here they are together, totally a pair!
For now, I have them on my buffet in my eating area. They won't say there long because I move things around just about daily!

You can see some of the other roosters in my kitchen HERE

Have a great week!

Front Porch Make Over for Spring

I have an oversize front porch and ever since moving into our home, almost three years ago, I have kept the porch void of anything. Not by choice, just my indecisiveness on what I wanted. Well, I am ready to add a few things to the porch. But, HAVE YOU SEEN THE PRICE OF OUTDOOR FURNITURE! CRAZY!

I decided that I would do the front porch for free. I turned it into a challenge to see if I could do it for free. I first started at my parents house to rummage through their fun stuff in the garage.

First, I will show you how my porch looked to start with:

My house is light grey and the front doors are blue. These wreaths are really for fall....ya, I know, I need to change them!

I do have this fun post that has signs that change out for each season near the front doors.
This is the vast porch to the right of the front doors.

This is the full front view of my house. Definitely needs some spring color!

So, this is the first thing that I stole borrowed from my parents.
A super cool vintage metal plant stand. I wanted to paint it red.
Almost done.
Done! I love it red!
Next, I stole borrowed these two chairs from my parents:
Two very fun vintage wicker chairs. I decided to paint them the same color blue as my front door. I also had some canvas to recover the cushions.
Here is what used to be the green chair.
And here is the white rocker.
My new look for the front doors. My mother let me borrow these two red sap buckets and I already had the flowers. Notice I also changed out the sign for the post for spring.
So, now when you are at my front door, this fun little sitting area will greet you. I made the two back pillows out of red and creme fabric. And I added the burlap bee pillow.
It is hard to tell because of the lighting, but there really is a big change to my porch.
Gotta say, I think I like the addition of the American flag best!

So, in the end, I almost did this for free. The only thing I had to buy were the flowers for the red plant stand. $24. The way I look at it, $24 is a lot better than the cost of new furniture!
