Welcome!

I loved the 3 dimensional look of the flower on the Easter Blessings block set.
I decided to expand on that idea and make a WELCOME sign. I figured out a pattern and headed on over to my assistant, aka Dad's house. He cut and painted, I came home and this is what I came up with...
The sign is super cute, and I love the colors.
The center flower is done using several circles and water! You can see a tutorial HERE that I did to create the center flower.
Once again, I love the dimensional look of this cute little sign.
I am very partial to polka-dots.
Looks cute on a front door
Or on a wall!

Sybillinart Bunnies!

I had a request for my bunny patterns from Sabine from Sybillin Art News. I emailed the patterns to her, and she was kind enough to show her version of the bunnies on her blog!

I LOVE her paper choices! Good job Sabine!

Easter Blessings!

In yesterday's post, I told you that I had some Easter blocks in the works. Well, I finished them tonight and thought that I would show them to you...oh, before I do show the block set to you, I AM SORRY about the shadows in the pictures! I am very tired, but knew I wanted to get these posted, so I took the pictures very fast, without any worry of the shadows. So, please look past the shadows!
This is a three block set.
The first block has a three dimensional flower and leaves. I love the 3-D look of the flower.
Remember, forgive me for the shadows!
I used SEI Winnie's Walls paper for the entire project. I have to say, Winnie's Walls is probably one of my favorite paper lines, ever!

Happy Tuesday!

Springtime!

Truth be told, fall is my favorite season! I love the colors, crispness and overall feeling of autumn. A close second is springtime. Living is Vegas, spring usually only lasts about a week or two, if we are lucky. It gets very hot, very quickly! This past week has been simply beautiful - hovering in the high 70's. So, I thought I would do the next monthly block set devoted more to spring, rather than Easter (I do have another set for Easter, but I wanted one for spring too !).

For this spring block set, I used mostly the paper line from October Afternoon, Modern Homemaker with a few sheets from Cosmo Cricket. I LOVE THE COLORS!

You can see all the previous monthly kits HERE

Have a great week!

Prayer for Japan~

It does not matter what faith you are. Chances are, your faith sends missionaries out all over the world, just like my faith does. I have a son serving a mission in Jacksonville, Florida (yes, my prayers were answered when I prayed that he stay stateside). My very first thought when I heard about this devastating earthquake was about the missionaries from our church serving there. Then, immediately, I broke down for the mothers of those missionaries. I thought of my son, and if this had happened to him, and the not knowing.  I am thinking of the countless missionaries of all faiths in Japan today. My heart is so heavy and sad for everyone there and those who have a loved one there. I know that there is power in numbers, so today, I ask that everyone in blogland say a silent prayer for Japan. Pray for comfort for those families. Pray for comfort for the mothers who have missionaries, service men/women, students or any child there for any reason.

As a mother, I thank you for praying for other mothers.

My Workshop

This afternoon, I was cleaning up my "workshop". I left the room, came back and thought, "This looks great, it actually is picked up and not a mess!" So, then my second thought was to snap some pictures so you can see where this "Crafty Girl" creates. I spend a lot of time in this room. I know that I am very lucky to have a space in our home dedicated to me. Especially, since I have a large family.

So, this is where I create:

This is the view of my office from the hallway. This is the best it will ever look! Once I get the fabric or the paper out, it's all over!
When you walk in, if you go to the right, that is the "computer station". I love my really big magnetic board that is above my computer. I really need want two more of the white cubes for the printer on the end there.
Along the back wall is a bay of windows that truly lets in a lot of natural light. The natural light is great for when I am sewing.
This is the wall to the left when you walk in. Yes, I know I should have folded the fabric nicely for you...but if I did, it would just be messed up in 5 minutes! So, please excuse. There was an opening from my office to the main family room, and we closed it off with shutters. I love this because I can be in my office and see what is going on in the main family room and into the kitchen! My younger boys still believe that I have eyes in the back of my head! :)
If you walk straight ahead in the office, you will come to my favorite chair ever! It is a super cute red/white check. There is an ottoman that matches, but there just isn't quite enough room for the ottoman. This chair I picked up at Goodwill for $40! And, it is an Ethan Allen chair. I love it when I find a good deal!
This is the wall that is on the same side as the door. The cabinet holds all my fabric, and then some.

I would love to see everyone else's rooms/space where they create. Hmmm, sound like a great idea for a Linky party!

Easter Egg Time!

After making Peter Cottontail and his friends the other day...
I thought I could do the same thing, but with Easter eggs.
So, back to my assistant (dad) with pattern, and I soon had three Easter eggs nicely painted white. The eggs were cut out of 3/4 inch MDF. I picked out the papers and embellishments that I wanted to use.
On the largest egg, I used strips of all of the papers, scalloped the edges with a different scallop punch for each. The tallest egg is about 8 inches tall.
I punched a cute scallop flower and added a button and it looks great! This medium egg is about 6 1/2 inches tall.
The baby egg looks cute with a sweet little bird on it. The small egg is about 5 1/2 inches tall.
And, like the bunny's, this little trio of Easter eggs will be a nice addition to our Easter decorations.

Happy Thursday to all!
